GCSE (Key Stage 4)

GCSEs are amongst the most important exams a child will ever take. The highest grades translate into offers to the best universities. Good grades are vital for your child’s future success. The Learning Hub is a popular place for GCSE preparation classes. As Examinations Centre we know what it takes to pass the exams. We not only cover the curriculum, we tailor our classes to specific examination boards. Our students become confident, leaving with a thorough understanding of their subjects and a high grade to prove it!

We prepare students with mock exam weeks, which help to focus students’ attention on class-based revision. They are able to ask any questions they want allowing them more practice than solely home-based revision techniques.

Our GCSE Maths course takes the student through basic mathematical concepts before progressing onto more advanced material as their skills and abilities increase. The course is divided into two parts: the first is for all students; the second is for those taking the Higher tier of the examination. Each lesson begins by covering a core topic before moving onto specific concerns of students including Measurement, Algebra, Geometry, Statistics and Probability, Indices and Inequalities and Graphs, etc.

International English

IGCSE English is a popular GCSE recognized globally. Our course helps students to develop the ability to communicate clearly, accurately and effectively in both speech and writing. Students learn how to employ a wide-ranging vocabulary, use correct grammar, spelling and punctuation, and develop a personal style and an awareness of the audience being addressed. The English IGCSE course is divided into modules examining the following; Language Skills, Personal Experience, Poetry and Prose, Essay Techniques, Reading, Response and Anthology Texts. We encourage students to read everything from newspapers to Booker prize winning fiction for their own enjoyment and to improve their awareness of the correct use of English.

Our students study a range of ICT systems, as used in the home, at school, and in society. We raise their awareness of current and emerging technologies and the impact that advances in technology may have on themselves, others and society. For more about the specialised ICT Courses we offer see VH WHizz Kids.
